Flickr is finally disabling that annoying popover! RP: “@treestman: @trine @mattmorris @mrbeefy Check this out. Great news! http://d.pr/i/fULw”

Current status: boiling mung beans. Cooking ginosang monggos tonight. One of the kids is sick so I’m making his favorite.
🗣
@treestman Ahh I see they do have a banner as well. Funny I can’t get the ad to appear for me at the moment.
🗣
@treestman Quite right. I just wanted to point out that Apple provides a way to do an advert like that. It’s better, but still not ideal. I don’t think the ad should appear if you’ve already seen it or if you already have the app installed.
🗣
@mrbeefy This write-up has a bit more detail. http://david-smith.org/blog/2012/09/20/implementing-smart-app-banners/
🗣
@mrbeefy It looks like the banner remains even if you already have the app. The button just changes from “View” to “Open”. Still, better than a full-screen popover. // @treestman @trine
🗣
@treestman @trine I agree it’s horrendous. They *should* simply be using the smart app banner that Apple provides.
🗣
Just deleted some test domains from Route 53. Maybe that was part of it.

So after hosting the site on Amazon for two days, my estimated charges for their DNS service is roughly 300% of the charge for S3 itself. I’ll take a closer look at the detailed report after a full billing cycle has passed.

@jaredsinclair Wow those look pretty cool. My French press is getting a bit worn out. Might replace it with one of these.
